Trip introduction

Athens' ancient ruins, Delphi's sacred oracle, and Meteora's sky-high monasteries — Greece's greatest hits in five days.

Trace the footsteps of philosophers and gods on this five-day sweep through mainland Greece's most iconic sites. Start in Athens with the Acropolis and Parthenon towering over the city, then head inland to Delphi, once considered the center of the ancient world, where the ruins of the Sanctuary of Apollo still draw visitors seeking its legendary oracle. The journey continues through the mountain villages of Central Greece to Meteora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where Byzantine-era monasteries perch improbably atop soaring rock pillars. A compact, well-paced introduction to Greece's biggest landmarks without a lengthy itinerary.
